Last Minute Costume Ideas

Thought this was kind of cool, and may be helpful in you're in a bind for a costume for the kiddos. These ideas came from www.RealSimple.com. I love that magazine!

For Girls:

• Fairy Princess - Her closet probably has the makings of a fairy princess — a leotard, a wand, a tutu. Just add glitter gel to her face and hands. For a crown, cut points into a sparkly or colored translucent school folder and glue the ends together
• Fallen Angel - A white dress + a pipe-cleaner halo + leaves in her hair and “dirt” on her face
• Jellyfish - A clear umbrella (preferably dome- shaped) + party streamers or metallic ribbons
  

For Boys:

• Robot - Got a big cardboard box? Cut off the flaps and cut holes for arms and a head. Spray-paint it silver or decorate it with markers and you have a robot. To make feet, cut a hole into the bottoms of two shoe boxes for him to put his ankles through, then have him put on his shoes underneath.
• Jay Crew - A polo shirt + khakis (or madras shorts) + a name tag

For Both:

• Superheroes fly with everyone. To make this costume, all you need is a cape, an eye mask, and a logo. If you can’t find an eye mask, draw one on with face paint; you can make a logo out of construction paper according to your child’s whim.
• Bathing Beauty - A plastic laundry basket with holes cut out for legs + white balloons + a shower cap Highway - Black clothes + yellow electrical tape down his torso + toy cars + Velcro
• Pig in a Blanket - A pig nose + a blanket Partly Cloudy With a Chance of Rain - A blue T-shirt + cotton balls + tape + a water gun
