My Papa's Politics

This post was written by my mom about my Papa. To understand the comedy behind this, you need to know that my Papa is a tried and true Democrat, and my mom (his daughter) generally votes Republican.True story of events that took place recently...
So, I was at my mom and dad's at lunch. My dad had called to tell me he had something to do and would I come and stay with my mom who is recovering from surgery. -- When I arrived he said that he had a few errands, Wal-Mart and such, and they (my mom and dad) had voted absentee and he wanted to get his ballots to the courthouse because he wasn't sure that he trusted the U.S. mail service to get them delivered properly.

I said, "well dad, you know that I work at the courthouse and the parking is impossible there today with all the courts going on, so I can take your ballots when I get back and deliver them safely to the clerk' office." (Bare in mind, this is the man that trusts me so much that I have power of attorney over all financial and medical concerns for he and my mom.) He looked at me so lovingly, this man that trusts me to make the decision over whether or not to pull the plug someday, and said, "No, I don't think so, I'd better take it myself."

Politics... go figure.

That is absolutely hilarious! I don't know which is funnier... your Mom's description of the situation including the plug part or the fact that your Papa didn't trust her to take it!! Ha!!
