Finances: When two become one

Came across an interesting article on handling finances after getting married.  I remember dealing with this when Jason and I graduated and actually had a little money to put in the bank.  After some trial and error, we came up with a plan that works best for us.

Seems as if there is a spender and a saver in every marriage.  What about you?  Was it a challenge to figure out the finances of the marriage (joint or separate checking, who pays the bills, etc) or was it very simple?

We are just starting to really figure this one out. We've had separate accounts until we got married, then we combined everything. I realized quickly that ALL of our bills were due between the 1st and 15th- one pay period- and had to fix it quickly! We would be poor for two weeks, then rich for two weeks, poor, rich...it was hard to find a balance!! My goal for the New Year is to figure it all out flawlessly...wish me luck!

Jake was really upset by the fact that he didn't get a happy bday shout on your blog. He went to be crying. I hope you can live with yourself.
